2019 Fitness Challenge Benefits Quad Cities Children's Charities

John Morrow presents check to the Children's Therapy Center.

Our 2019 Fitness Challenge was a success! We raised $5,000 for three local children's charities.

On January 5, the day before my 67th birthday, we held the Fitness Challenge at CASI in Davenport. A small group of friends and students joined me to do 1,000 sit-ups, 1,000 push-ups and 1,000 leg lifts in one hour.

All donations were matched by the Quad Cities Morning Optimist Club.

We donated $2,000 to the Children's Therapy Center, $1,500 to Kids Against Hunger, and $1,500 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The photo above shows Angie Peterson and Chris Van Speybroeck of the Children's Therapy Service.

One of the goals of martial arts is to "connect" with the world around us. Giving back to the community is important to me for many reasons. I am proud to be associated with the Quad Cities Morning Optimist Club, and I appreciate the support of everyone who donated and attended our event to cheer us on.
